Machiya Revival Series - Workshop 3 - A project by a Machiya architect - Andrew Namhias is a Cornell-educated architect working to preserve machiya around Kyoto. A mainstay of historical Kyoto, the machiya, is gradually disappearing from Kyoto's streets, but you can help reverse this trend! Join Andrew in a half-day workshop at a machiya nearby and learn about the machiya preservation process while working hands-on with materials such as plaster and bengara with drinks and food provided afterwards at Café Frosch. The Machiya Revival series is a collection of monthly events ranging from lectures, tours, to hands on experiences helping restore Kyoto machiya.
