"Rusty James is the leader of a small, dying gang in an industrial town. He lives in the shadow of the memory of his absent, older brother -- The Motorcycle Boy. Once is a special little film set in Dublin, Ireland that tells the love story of a struggling busker and a young Czech immigrant. The beautiful music and naturalistic story really make it a unique and lovely film that you will want to share with others.

Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles,など。

It's now pretty much the thick of summertime and thus it's time to celebrate sunny days, freedom, and exuberance.  This movie is an absolutely classic meditation on youth, fun, and enjoying life to its fullest.  I would venture to say that it is a physical impossibility not to get caught up in this wonderful films contagious joie de vivre.  - chikachika...  bau bau... image  8th - Easy Rider
Easy-RiderDirected by Dennis Hopper, starring Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda, and jack Nicholson.
As many may know, this past month Dennis Hopper, one of Hollywood's foremost counterculture representatives, passed away. As a kind of a memorial to his life and work, this month's Movie Night will be a showing of one of his most celebrated films, Easy Rider. The film is a story of two biker friends who ride across the landscape of 60s America searching out what exactly constitutes "America" anymore. Along the way they meet a wide assortment of characters, from free loving hippies, to hard headed locals who are not very appreciative of the liberal ways springing up around them.  This movie is not to be missed by anyone interested in America's culture and recent history.

A Drama/Romance about a man and a woman who meet on a train and disembark in Vienna, where they spend the night walking around the city getting to know each other.

image 6th - Tampopo

- The Wanderers -
A number of films have been made over the years about the West Side Story style gangs of New York in the 1960s, but I would venture to say that none surpasses The Wanderers in terms of both its entertainment value and in the way that it takes full on the deeper sociological themes tied up in the genre.  At once a story about a group of teenage boys grappling with the idea of leaving the comfort of highschool for the greater world, this movie also encompasses issues of race relations, economic challenges, war, and responsibilities tied up in premarital "relations".  While mostly a cult film known to few, The Wanderers is the kind of film you leave always wanting to share with someone else.
